Fountain H. (2011, March 24) Extent of Japan's infrastructure unclear. The New York Times. Retrieved April 13, 2011, from http://www.nytimes.com
My research paper topic is "How Civil Engineering Helps Communities". One part of this paper is how it helps a country stand after a natural disaster. This article could help me since it shows how Japan is dealing with it's infrastructure after the devastating Tsunami a few weeks ago. This article and other similar articles will help me show how civil engineering is important to communities in these situations. Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis and other natural disasters can strongly damage the infrastructure of cities they hit. It is the responsibility of a civil engineer to to make sure that the buildings are reinforced and built with strong bases prevent disasters to get out of hand. It is also the responsibility of a civil engineer to rebuild after such disasters occur.
